Block Printing – Jaipur, India
Block printing in Jaipur is a centuries-old craft that reflects the region’s rich artistic heritage and deep connection to textiles. Skilled artisans carve intricate patterns into wooden blocks, which are then hand-stamped onto fabric using natural or pigment dyes, creating beautifully layered designs with subtle variations that make each piece unique.
I hand select fabrics from Sanganer and Bagru, villages near my hometown of Jaipur.
The process is entirely manual—from preparing the fabric and mixing dyes to carefully aligning each print. Known for its delicate florals, bold geometrics, and earthy colour palettes, Jaipur’s block printing tradition continues to thrive, blending time-honoured techniques with contemporary design.
